A team of India Learning Exchange on Tsunami Response visited Aceh from 26th of November until 2nd of December.  They are P.E. Reji coordinator for Terre des Hommes South Asia in Bangalore, Suresh Dharma from Center for Child Rights and Development (CCRD) in Chennai, Y.Siluvai Vasthian founder of HEAL movement from Tamilnadu, Muthukhrisnan Soundarajan from Nagapattinam, Bridget Mary Prema T. from TdH India Bangalore, Arivoli P. who works for SNEHA in Nagapattinam, Dr. Shalini N. psychiatrist from Chennai, Sanjeev Kumar from NIMHANS in Bangalore.  They were accompanied by Sri Eni from TdH Indonesia.  During this visit they meet tsunami survivors in a newly built housing compound in the area of Blangpidie, Northwest Aceh, attend sessions for students conducted by our therapists in vocational and high schools and sharing their experience with tsunami survivors in India with the management and therapists involved in the program of trauma therapy for tsunami survivors. The program for tsunami survivors conducted by Indonesian Psychologist Association (Himpsi Jaya) supported by Terre des Hommes Germany and financed by BMZ Deutschland government is a 3-year program (2007-2009) implemented in 5 districts of Aceh Nanggroe Darussalam i.e. Aceh Barat Daya, Aceh Besar, Banda Aceh, Aceh Utara and Aceh Barat.  The program focuses on delivering EMDR therapy for trauma survivors in those areas in Aceh (see Project).
